What are the benefits of a tourniquet?

This is how you treat arterial bleeding with a tourniquet

If you want to stop arterial bleeding, it is always important to apply a tourniquet just above the wound and wrap it tightly around the arm or leg twice. Then tighten the tourniquet so that it is snug and the bleeding stops. You use the following steps:

1. See where the wound is located and apply pressure to the wound.
2. Place the tourniquet around the body part with the Velcro side facing outwards
3. Now pass the strap through the clip and tighten it gently.
4. Make sure that the Velcro is secured approximately 5 to 6 cm above the wound. Never apply the tourniquet to the joint or wound itself.
5. Turn the bracket on the tourniquet until no more blood comes out of the wound.
6. Secure the bracket by pulling the bracket through the loop so that it does not come loose.
7. Secure the strap with the remaining Velcro.
8. In between, contact 112 as quickly as possible or take the victim to the hospital quickly.
